Clean Water for Kibera Primary School

The problem

Kibera Primary has 340 students. There is no water on site.

Every morning, two children from each class are sent to fetch water from a

communal tap nearly two miles away. They miss the first hour of lessons. The

water they carry back is not safe to drink — the school reported 47 cases of

waterborne illness last term alone.

What we are building

A 60-metre borehole on the school grounds, with:

- Solar-powered pump

- Two-stage filtration

- A 5,000-litre storage tank

- Four taps in the courtyard

Where the money goes

1. Drilling and casing — $7,200

2. Pump and solar array — $3,100

3. Filtration and tank — $1,600

4. Training and first-year maintenance — $600

Timeline

Drilling begins January 2027. Water flowing by March. We will post photos and a

flow-test video here as each stage completes.
